Course Description
We help our diverse student body to understand the natural and cultural environments of the region and around the world, to be critical consumers of environmental advocacy and to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the planet and its diversity.
Topics of study offered at the college include physical geography, the study of earth’s physical processes, such as weather and climate patterns, volcanism, erosional forces, and landform features, and cultural geography, the study of humanity’s relationship with the Earth, such as migration patterns, the spread of agriculture and industrial development, and how we use resources. We also offer an exciting physical geography lab course which provides instructor-led field trip opportunities. Students can visit and explore places as China Camp, Mount Diablo, the eastern Sierra Nevada and more!
