Course Description

You will be given exposure to the Area of Emphasis spanning all aspects of public service leading to certificates in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. This pathway can lead from here to a four-year degree and on to a Master in Public Administration. College of Alameda has developed a special relationship with CSU East Bay in the department of Political Science and the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program,thus enabling us to offer students a 2+2+2 pathway to a professional career in the public service.

The Public Administration track will offer a certificate in Emergency Management & Homeland Security designed for two career tracks:

  1. Entry-level employment in public and/or private organizations that oversee public safety, security or services responsibilities in times of crisis.
  2. Active government, private and non-profit employees concerned with developing advanced managerial, communication and planning skills in the field of emergency management.
