Linda Thompson

Linda Thompson has been the head coach of the College of Alameda (COA) women's volley-ball program since 2004. Her previous collegiate coaching experience Thompson was the head women's softball coach and head women's volleyball coach at Laney College.

Coach Thompson served as the athletic director at St. Elizabeth Middle School and coached girls volleyball, softball and basketball for three years. In 1991, she was named head coach of the women’s varsity volleyball program at Skyline high School, where she coached the Lady Titans to four Oakland Athletic League championships and CIF appearances and she assisted with winning championships in women’s softball.

For over two decades, Coach Thompson has served in her community, as well as, she is the founder of the Oakland girls’ softball league and girls’ club volleyball. She has received many community service awards, including KQED’s Unsung Hero Award.

Linda Thompson is working towards a doctorate degree in sports management at Northcentral University. She earned a master’s degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Saint Mary's College of California and a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration from California State University at Hayward. She is also an adjunct faculty member, chairs the Departments of Kinesiology/Health/Athletics, and serves on COA’s curriculum and facilities committees.
