If you’re new to college – whether you’re a recent high school graduate, you’ve completed your GED, or you graduated from high school a while ago, start here. You’ll need to complete a simple series of steps to apply for admission, complete orientation and assessment, and enroll in classes.
If you have previously attended College of Alameda, but have not enrolled in classes here or at our sister colleges (Laney College, Merritt College, Berkeley City College) for a semester, you will need to re-apply.

If you’re a high school or pre-high school student, you may enroll at College of Alameda (CoA) as a special part-time student, in accordance with California Education Code.
Enrollment must be recommended by your principal with parental consent, and approved by the CoA Dean of Admissions & Records. If your high school counselor recommends that you enroll in more than six units, you must also have the approval of the CoA Vice President of Student Services.
The College of Alameda dual enrollment program gives the opportunity and avenue for high school students to get a jump start into college. Giving the student a rare opportunity to gain both high school and college level credit at the same time. For some students it may be an additional option other than taking AP or IB courses to achieve college credit in both the academic and vocational pathways. This program is a true win-win for the high school, parents, and most importantly the students.
