ENGLISH 1AS 43869 Tuesdays & Thursdays 9:00am – 11:15am Maurice Jones
Welcome, Puentistas! The focus of this conversation-based English 1A/1AS section, is on immigrant experiences and myriad forms of the definition of how borders work in their current political, social, philosophical, and cultural states. We will work our way through group discussions, projects, analyses, argumentation, and research; these assignments and essay genres will allow us to grow and thrive in the competitive world, both inside and outside the field of academics. Students will analyze essays and non-fiction texts, as well as write organized and well-developed essays based on the assigned texts and their own research. Students will also read, analyze and write about one book-length work on the immigrant experience and an anthology of essays regarding borders. In short, English 1A/1AS will help you to improve your critical reading, thinking, socializing, and writing skills-skills that are essential for future success with our community and the world at large!
